  • Stoney Bowman

    PMHNP-BC and FOUNDER

    Stoney Bowman is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. He has been working in the mental health field since 1996. His undergraduate training was at Carson Newman College with a degree in psychology. He went on to get his nursing degree and practiced as a registered nurse at Central Regional Hospital for several years, working mostly with children and adolescents. He also has had experience in orthopedic medicine, having worked at Duke Regional. He discovered a primary interest in providing care for psychiatric patients. He returned to school to receive his master’s degree in nursing which he completed at UNC Chapel Hill. He has been working as a psychiatric nurse practitioner for the past 5 years.

    Mr. Bowman is originally from rural Virginia and has had the opportunity to live throughout the southeastern United States. He spent a year teaching English in South Korea. He moved to North Carolina in 2011 after graduating with his nursing degree.

    Areas of clinical interest

    Mr. Bowman’s clinical interests include treating psychiatric and substance abuse patients across the life spectrum. His clinical practice includes psychopharmacology and psychotherapy services. He is interested in a holistic approach to patient care including dealing with nutritional, exercise, sleep, and stress reduction strategies to improve overall mental health conditions. Mr. Bowman’s clinical style has been described as friendly, conversational, and engaging.
